Devastation European Master gone gold, UK release April 17th

London, United Kingdom — 4/14/2003 – Entertainment software publishers HD Interactive and NovaLogic Ltd. today announced that the European version of Devastation, the next-generation Unreal engine-powered first person shooter, has gone gold and will be available on retail shelves throughout the UK on April 17th.

The Cyberpunk FPS features amazing graphics, an engaging story line, intelligent NPC and over thirty futuristic weapons to blast away enemy AI. Throughout twenty single player levels gamers can pick up and throw items and in multiplayer can participate in a brand new style of multiplayer gaming called Territories.

Storyline:

On a future devastated Earth, powerful, corrupt corporations control remaining technology and rule what\'s left of society. Pacification Squads, a brutal private police force, maintain order for the corporate syndicate. The only hope for freedom is a small group of Resistance fighters made up of gang leaders, mercenaries and ex-military operatives. As the Resistance leader you must assemble your army and travel the globe, restoring peace and sanity in a very dangerous world.

  • Objective-based, storyline focused single player campaign, incorporating special skills like stealth, surveillance, hacking into security systems, sniping, and brute force.
  • 32 massive, photorealistic levels based off real-world textures, including 20 single player and 12 multiplayer maps, set in four stunning environments.
  • All the favorite online multiplayer standards, including Capture the Flag, Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch, including an exciting new style of multiplayer gaming: Territories.
  • Powerful, easy-to-use editor with more than 4,000 prefabs and tons of physics-enabled objects.

In conjunction with the release of Devastation, NovaLogic has also launched an online graffiti competition at www.devastationgame.co.uk/graffiti to search for the nation’s most promising online graffiti artist.

With a top prize of £1000, the graffiti competition is looking for the graffiti piece that best represents the Devastation world. NovaLogic has also teamed up with Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment to cross promote the release of Devastation with the forthcoming DVD release of 28 Days Later, a film that shares a similar theme to the Devastation world. Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment will be supplying theatrical posters and screenplays signed by Director Danny Boyle, Author Alex Garland and Producer Andrew Macdonald, as well as DVD copies of the film itself, as prizes for the online graffiti competition.

Devastation will ship on PC CD - ROM across the UK on April 17th 2003.
