Marine
Force Recon Background
The Force Recon Marines' missions include long-range reconnaissance
and surveillance, T.R.A.P. (Tactical Recovery of Aircraft Personnel),
M.I.O. (Maritime Interdiction Operations), hydrographic surveys
& beach reconnaissance, small unit raids, selected prisoner
snatches, harbor reconnaissance, underwater searches, and the evacuation
of American civilians from hostile environments.
While Force
Recon Marines are not technically special operations operators,
since they do not fall under the U.S. military's Special Operations
Command, their missions, training and selection process render them
the equivalent. Force Recon Marines have conducted combat operations
deep into northern Afghanistan, engaging suspected terrorist outposts,
vehicle convoys, command and control sites and caves. |
